GNU Lilypond -- High quality music typesetter. Inputs files in the Mudela language and outputs postscript sheet music and midi files. Part of the GNU Music project.
Linux Music Software Site -- Free and Shareware programs: screen shots, user reviews, more.
Rosegarden -- An integrated midi sequenser and musical notation editor for Unix-like systems. The latest version is the pretty old, but stable Version 2.1. Rosegarden is currently being rewritten to be extensible and to overcome limitations in the previous design. Rosegarden 3.0 will use GTK+, CORBA and GUILE. Sadly, progress has been stalled for a while now.
Sound & MIDI Software For Linux -- This site has links to everything related to music on Linux. Also has links to programming documentation, sound repositories, other sites etc. Updated frequently.
SoundTracker -- SoundTracker - a music tracker for the X window system
TiMidity++ -- A midi to wave converter. Uses Gravis Ultrasound-compatible patch files. Can be used to play midi-files on computers with soundcards without midi-support.
XMP -- Extended Module Player for Win95.
kooBase -- Music application for Linux inspired by Steinberg Research''s CuBase. Includes/will include MIDI sequencing, a score editor, a drum editor, an event editor, harddrive recording, and a bunch of other features. kooBase also has an API, to make it easier to write extensions to the program.
